Wast Water, The Lake District Elopement - Hazel + alex

Hazel and Alex had the most beautifully unforgettable Lake District elopement. From sharing private vows overlooking Wast Water to an elopement portrait session hidden in the Cumbrian mountains.

Being an elopement photographer, I always love it when I have a couple get in touch who are eloping to The Lake District. Hazel and Alex were, of course, no different. Planning their elopement in The Lake District was so much fun. We bounced various Lake District elopement locations off each other, trying to get a feel for what they wanted their elopement day to truly look like. We eventually settled with Wast Water: a stunning lake framed by Scarfell Pike.

Hazel and Alex started their Lake District elopement with a private vow ceremony over Wast Water. Having become ‘legally’ wed the day before at a registry office, their elopement ceremony allowed Hazel and Alex to have a more intimate ceremony together as well as being able to write personal vows. As an elopement photographer, I hear a lot of personal vows and it never ceases to make me feel emotional!

Surrounded by dramatic Cumbrian mountains, Wast Water was the perfect elopement location within The Lake District. As a result, we spent their entire elopement afternoon nestled in by this gorgeous lake. Their portrait session really did encompass everything about why couples choose to have a Lake District elopement; from the scenic mountains to the cosy countryside.

Hazel and Alex contacted me whilst on their search for an elopement photographer in the UK. We clicked instantly whilst planning their Lake District elopement. Hazel and Alex wanted an elopement day that felt relaxed, calm and peaceful. Wast Water really couldn’t have been more perfect for them!

As the afternoon drew in, Hazel and Alex shared a small wedding breakfast on an elopement table set up by Wast Water waterfront. This intimate setting couldn’t have been a better way for the Lake District elopement to be celebrated.
