If you’ve ever dreamed of a Scotland elopement filled with epic views, laughter, and a few perfectly imperfect moments, Emily and Saul’s day might just be all the inspiration you need. As a Scotland elopement photographer, I’ve witnessed so many incredible love stories across the Highlands – but this one? It had all the magic, from a sunrise start at the Quiraing to a golden afternoon at Sligachan and a peaceful end by Brother’s Point.

Our alarms went off painfully early (I won’t even admit what time). The plan? To reach the Quiraing before sunrise for the start of Emily and Saul’s Isle of Skye elopement. I’ve photographed many elopements here before, but nothing compares to seeing the Quiraing shrouded in mythical darkness before the first light touches the mountains.
And honestly, it was worth every bleary-eyed minute. As the sun rose, the landscape exploded into colour – soft pinks and golds wrapping around the jagged peaks. Emily and Saul stood together, wrapped up against the chill, with the biggest smiles as they realised how lucky we were to catch a clear, calm Skye morning.

Their intimate ceremony was led by their lovely celebrant, Rona, complete with private vows and plenty of emotion. And then – the moment every elopement photographer in Scotland dreams of capturing; a little dose of real-life spontaneity.
In true elopement fashion, the early start meant they’d accidentally left their wedding rings back at their accommodation! But the show must go on. Luckily, I’m a ring wearer myself, so they borrowed mine…Saul even had to wear his on his pinky finger. We all laughed about it, and honestly, it added so much character to their day. My rings have never had more meaning since!
As it was just the two of them, I had the honour of being a legal witness, which always feels so special.

After the ceremony, we wandered the Quiraing for portraits as the last of the sunrise light danced across the hills. Of course, we couldn’t leave without grabbing that classic Quiraing shot of the winding road; it’s a must for any Isle of Skye elopement!

From the Quiraing, we headed south to one of my favourite lesser-known spots: Sligachan. It’s only a short walk from the road, but it opens up into breathtaking views of the Black Cuillin mountains. The best part? Not a soul around.
The sun was blazing by now, giving us the most gorgeous warm light as Emily and Saul soaked up that “just married” feeling. We took a few more portraits by the water, surrounded by nothing but the sound of the river and the mountains standing proud behind them.

After a little drive north, we found ourselves hiking down to Brother’s Point Beach. Despite the warm day, we had the entire shoreline to ourselves, proof that with the right Scotland elopement photographer, you can plan your timings to avoid the crowds and truly enjoy the peace of Skye.
We explored the beach, watched the waves roll in, and even spotted a few sheep on the way back! From there, we climbed up the cliffs to a totally private, hidden viewpoint overlooking Brother’s Point. Waiting there was a gorgeous bell tent picnic setup – the perfect way to relax after such an early start.

Before I left them to enjoy their evening together, we popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate in style. Golden light, sea breeze, laughter – the perfect end to an incredible Isle of Skye elopement.
We’d planned this moment carefully, to end the day in peace, soaking up the scenery and the emotion of it all. That’s the beauty of a Scotland elopement: it’s all about you, your love, and your adventure, whether that’s an all-day hike or a quiet moment by the sea.
A week later, I was lucky enough to capture Emily and Saul’s “Wedding Part 2”; their Bristol celebration with all their friends and family. It was the perfect contrast to their elopement in Scotland: one day wild and free on Skye, the next full of hugs and laughter back home.
