Cara & Marcus’ Joyful Summer Wedding at High House, Essex
Some wedding days are just bursting with happiness from start to finish — and Cara and Marcus’ incredible High House wedding was one of those! The day was filled with music, laughter, emotion, and that magical Essex sunshine that made everything sparkle. As an Essex wedding photographer, this one will forever stand out for its joy, colour and connection.
Cara started her morning at her parents’ home, surrounded by her bridesmaids and the buzz of excitement. The atmosphere was beautifully calm, a mix of nerves, laughter, and that final flurry of preparations before heading to the church.
One of my favourite moments was her emotional first look with her dad.
Meanwhile, over at the church, Marcus and his groomsmen were greeting guests, buttonholes in place and smiles all round. I grabbed a few quick photos of them before the ceremony began.

A Church Ceremony Full of Music & Heart
This was honestly one of the most beautiful church ceremonies I’ve ever captured. Three of Cara and Marcus’ friends formed the church band, filling the space with the most heartfelt, passionate hymns — the energy was just incredible!
Adding to the magic, a close friend from their church camp was their vicar, which made the ceremony feel extra personal and emotional. Every smile, laugh and happy tear radiated love.

Homemade Biscuits & Sunshine Outside the Church
After the ceremony, guests spilled out into the sunshine for a short drinks reception right outside the church — homemade biscuits, beaming faces, and a wave of congratulations all around. The weather was glorious (and very warm!), so everyone made the most of the shade before heading to High House for the next part of the celebration.

Drinks Reception in the Orangery at High House
If you’ve ever visited High House in Essex, you’ll know how stunning the orangery is. It’s honestly a photographer’s dream. The space was filled with gorgeous florals, elegant table decor, and beautiful light pouring through the windows.
I always like to capture the reception space before guests enter, and the orangery looked picture-perfect. Then it was back outside for the drinks reception.
We used this time for a few family photos before moving into some playful bridesmaid and groomsmen photos — always a highlight for me because it’s a chance to capture those big personalities and genuine laughter.

A High-Energy Entrance & Heartfelt Speeches
If I thought the ceremony was full of energy, it was nothing compared to their entrance into the wedding breakfast! The newlyweds arrived to huge cheers, clapping, and laughter — such an unforgettable moment.
Dinner was followed by beautiful speeches in the orangery. Full of love, laughter and a few tears. I loved capturing those little reaction shots that tell the story of the moment.

Sunset Portraits & A Golden Hour Dream
It was a very hot and bright day, so we kept the afternoon portraits short and decided to wait until evening for the best light. And wow, did it pay off!
High House is famous for its golden light and those dreamy Essex skies, and we got the full show. The golden hour was incredible — soft light dancing across the lawns and trees, the perfect setting for some romantic portraits of Cara and Marcus before the evening began.

Evening Vibes: Cake, Dancing & Party Time
After speeches, the orangery was transformed for the evening celebration. Guests enjoyed more drinks on the terrace before it was time for the cake cut and the first dance.
And then, of course, it was party time! The dance floor was packed, the music was flowing, and it was the perfect end to a gorgeous summer’s day.
Cara and Marcus’ High House wedding was everything you’d want from an Essex celebration — heartfelt, elegant, and overflowing with happiness. As an Essex wedding photographer, it’s days like these that make this job the absolute best.
